C
unda is rapidly developing and gaining new touristic venues. The latest handsome addition to the island is Ziya Bey Konağı. The mansion seems like it takes its name from a historic figure, eg. a general, but in fact it takes from its funny current owner who also runs the Moshos hotel described in these pages. He bought this new property in recent years and has been renovating it ever since. It will open in time for the 2011 summer season. The port is a short 5-10 minute walk away. Two adjacent houses were combined to create this inspiring building. The interior was furnished to respect to the building’s century-old architecture: grandfather chairs in corners, brass beds, wooden chests of drawers dug up in antique shops and walls decorated with interesting patterns... The place is warm, spirited and full of charm.
