A
t the southern end of the Gulf of Fethiye, this place, perched 600 m. above the sea is mind-blowing. Below it: a straight drop. The kind of spot Icarus could have chosen to launch his flight. The lighthouse is reached through a dirt road, which was part of the Lykian Way. The trip is well worth the effort. Semra, a smiley maritime engineer, came home from London years ago with a handsome South African in her luggage. Having chosen to crazy spot, they proceeded to build the house themselves. Last year, it was still a rustic village facility with a shared bathroom. But it has been upgraded and the rooms now offer all the comforts modern travellers expect, including jacuzzis with a unmatched view. Add delicious meals and a nice swimming pool, and you’ll truly feel on top of the world.
