he cliff-top location is breathtaking. You look down on the deep indigo of Kalkan's bay from a height of more than 180 steps. The buildings, bright white and Mediterranean blue, hug closely to the earth in their sun-drenched olive grove: sitting on a terrace, you may forget that there is a hotel at all. Rooms come in various shapes and sizes: there are Moonlight rooms and Deluxe rooms, and several private apartments set in more secluded corners of the property. At top end is the Pool Suite, with a private swimming pool (pictured above) suspended between the bedroom and the void. The view is bewitchingly romantic at night as the lights of Kalkan glitter in the distance.
Far down is the sea, with a swimming platform over the rocks and a bar-restaurant where one can loll about all day long. The style is civilised and unobtrusive, mixing touches of class with a casual beach tone. Above all it is very private: sitting on your terrace, you may forget that there is a hotel at all.
Credit goes to Miss Tolbas, who left a successful career as graphic artist in Germany to build her home in Kalkan. Her elegant portrait decorates the lobby: her style permeates the hotel.

The most stylish hotel that I have stayed in Turkey. The way the rooms are arranged on the cliffside one gets the feeling it is not an hotel at all, more of your own private villa. The view is stunning of course, and the rooms/suites are stylishly furnished. The whitewashed architecture is picture perfect. Dinner at night on the roof terrace was wonderful. The food excellent. Probably the best I have had in Turkey other than Dede in Marmaris. Swimming and sunbathing by the sea is at the bottom of countless steps down from the rooms. (Dont forget anything, its a long way back!). There are no beaches on this part of the coast, but the beach club provides plenty of sunbathing areas and a diving platform just offshore. I like the funicular to get the luggage down. Very stylish, but quite expensive for Turkey.
