A
quiet, pleasant small hotel set in a farming village far removed from the overcharged tourists' world of Dalyan. Villa Gökbel is the only accommodation of any sort in the village. It commands an astounding panorama of the delta, a vast labyrinth of swamps and lagoons surrounded by abrupt mountains. It is only a short drive from the great unspoiled beach of İztuzu where the giant loggerhead turtles frolic in summer.
The host is a gentleman with an academic background who originally built here a summer home and became a hotelkeeper on second thoughts. He offers a friendly and informal establishment, a comfortable lounge, a big fireplace, a well-stocked bar and good cuisine at dinner. (There no other place to eat in the village, though Dalyan is only 8 kms away by car.) A great rock and an ancient carob tree dominate the garden; an olive tree grows out of a guest bathroom. The swimming pool seems to float off the edge of the rock into the void.
