nly 45 minutes away from Istanbul airport, this unusual guest house in Çatalca resembles a Mexican hacienda. Owner Mrs Kolverdi built it for herself two decades ago, selecting an architectural style rarely seen in Turkey. A year ago, the property was successfully converted into a guest house, full to the brim with paintings and antiques. In fact, it doubles as a gallery and many of the items on display are for sale. In keeping with the farmhouse theme, the food, served on fine china, is wonderful: farm eggs, fresh butter and home-made jams for breakfast. The oven braised quails are said to be finger-licking delicious. The rooms are all lovely, and the king suite outstanding. It has its own sitting room and two bedrooms. You’ll want to stay for months.
