A
250 year-old Greek house in the former Greek quarter of Ürgüp. Located on a height, it commands a great view: Cappadocia on one side, Mount Erciyes on the other.
Utopia Cave Hotel is a lovely family establishment that opened last year. The Çalışkan family wanted to build their own utopia. A more edgy decor might have been expected to fit the name, but they opted for a solidly grounded design. The rooms, airy and spacious, are decorated in neo-classical style. Each room has a vast floor-heated bathroom, carved out of the rock. Very elegant too! They were given imaginative names: Heart of Tranquillity, Magical Stone, Hidden Keys... Our favourite is Sheherazade. Breakfast is a feast: savoury pastries, carrot cake, olives and local cheeses. But the real treat are the evening meals, largely inspired by Ottoman cuisine.
