astamonu may not be a hot tourist spot, but the
Seljukid wooden mosque in nearby Kasaba, built in the 14th century, is worth a visit. For the past six years, Gülsen, who also owns the Toprakçılar Konağı described in these pages, has brougt her sense of aesthetic and her professionalism to the tourism sector in Kastamonu. Her latest achievement is this handsome mansion, build in mis 19th centry, whic she restored with love and excellent taste. The beatifull facede, with its wooden beams typical of the local architectural style,is matched by a successful decor inside. Brigt colours were used to great effect in the vast space and an understated elegance permeates the large rooms. The hotel has a restouran, which not only offers excellent food but is also one of only two establishment in Kastamonu where you can enjoy a glass of wine.
