ixty-five km. north-east of Adapazari, Taraklı is the kind of village that immediately inspires serenity. Nothing spoils the gentle rural atmosphere. From the houses to the mosque, including the traditional square and the mature trees, everything is steeped in a long past. The village was founded by the Ottomans before they even had a state. A lone 700 year-old plane tree, worth a visit by itself, stands witness to this long history. Two friends from Istanbul bought this old mansion a few years ago and reinvented themselves as hoteliers. They invest as much love and enthusiasm into entertaining their guests as they did in renovating the house, which is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Outstanding hostesses, they prepare delicious meals, escort guests on day excursions and even organize occasional cinema evenings.
