If, like my family, you really like: "To have your own front door",when on holiday, but and it is a BIG BUT, you also want to be cherished, spoilt and have the best of an excellent hotel and all the perks, but none of the obligatory big fuss, must do's, loud unpleasant musak ,screaming kids and youths etc! that come hand in hand with a commercial outfit, then there is an oasis in a charming, unspoilt small hotel in BoDRUM, Turkey.
The SU OTEL is a remarkable find. Hidden away from busy traffic and noise, you follow the fish in the pavements to a wide open door. A remarkable welcome awaits. A large swimming pool, surrounded on all sides by a simple layout of rooms, a good covered bar and a restaurant provide all the luxury that is needed.
Just before you come to the threshold, a few metres to the right is a white washed building, with a pretty garden, lemon tree, mandarin trees and shade , which offers the chance to stay in the luxury of the SU, but also enables you to be independent, should you so wish! Welcome to Ardmore Apartment, the self- catering option of The SU. A large sitting room, ( with a bed/settee) small but good basic kitchen ( with LARGE fridge). There are two bedrooms, one with king size bed, wardrobe & good storage, one with twin singles, loads of drawer space, etc. An enormous bathroom with good shower, and additional hanging space in a alcove off the long corridor. All rooms are air conditioned. It is cool in the heat of summer, and there is shade in the garden, in which to curl up and read a book!, whilst the others can be sunning themselves by the Su pool.
If you want the full Hotel service, then it is available, breakfast is delicious. The bar is a welcome hub of interest with good conversation, lunch is readily served if you want to be lazy, or you can be completely independent and do your own catering in ARDMORE. (Actually, the bar and wine and company is so good in the evening, that I strayed and stayed far too long). Look it up. THe best of both worlds. And the family loved it too.
