A
perfect little old Greek townhouse full of very personal charm. The owner is a delightful lady who spent a lifetime as an educator in Germany and retired to this cosy half-Greek island where she also owns an art gallery. She cooks marvellously, and presents her cooking impressively: her breakfast table - always set communally - is the most attractive breakfast pageant we have come across in the country.
Her house is filled with an amazing collection of personal paraphernalia - family pictures, dolls, hats, books, old letters, embroideries, kilims, postcards, porcelain cups, fresh and dried flowers and hundreds of paintings. The rooms (some of them with common baths) hail straight from grandmother's storybooks.
Özcan Hanım rents several self-catering houses in the sleepy old village streets that surround her pension. She also owns a cottage in the vineyards out in the back of the island, a mere 10-minute bike ride from the island's best beach, which can sleep a group of eight.

I stayed in Rengigul Guesthouse in summer 2007. This wonderful old house with its friendly hostess and lovely decorations. It’s surely one of the best, if not the very best hotel I ever stayed in, and I hope to return one day. Only the breakfast made it worthwile, excellent home cooked food and good company. Bozcaada is a small paradise, as made for a relaxing time as well as cycling and hiking - and the wine is very good too!
