  • This is a unique small family run hotel. The rooms are basic but have everything that you need. The roof top terrace provides stunning views across Kalkan Bay and both the evening and lunchtime food is very good. The pool area is quiet and also offers great views across the bay. The service here is very good and you are made to feel very welcome. I would say that this is a great place to stay if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday. I would definitiely stay here again if I returned to Kalkan. There are two beech clubs within easy walking distance of the hotel. If you want to go to a sandy beech, then Kapitas beech is about a 10 minute drive away, or Patara beech where you can hire beds and parasols is about a 15 minute drive. It takes about 25 minutes to walk into town, and this includes a couple of steep hills. Alternatively the hotel will arrange a taxi for you which usually takes about 5 minutes to arrive and 5 minutes to get to the town centre (cost approx 11 Lira). Kalkan itself has plenty of restaurants to choose from. We ate out virtually every evening during our two week stay and all of the food was good. Three recommendations would be Trio on the harbour front, The Olive Garden, and for a special treat Coast @ Gironda (more expensive but probably the best restaurant in town). If you are after a peaceful, relaxing holiday then Kalkan and Fidanka are a good choice.

  • This really is a beautiful little hideaway 5 minutes drive from Kalkan. The building is incredibly quirky and arranged over numerous levels. Our room had a separate sitting area furnished in the manner that I would imagine a typical Turkish house would look like, in fact the whole hotel oozes old world charm and it's very easy to relax almost from the moment you arrive. The staff could not have been friendlier, the food we had at both lunch and dinner were excellent, offering a good selection of local dishes and not over-priced wines. The pool area is well kept and there was never a fight to find a spot to lay out with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available. We ate in Kalkan on 4 occasions, there are a myriad of choices there, but our favourite was the roof terrace at Sofra, the fish skewers were to die for as was the chocolate cake (or so my wife tells me!) We had a hire car as part of our package and found driving in that part of the world to be pretty straightforward and visited Xanthos, Pattara and the Saklikent Gorge whilst in the area, all of which I would highly recommend as worthwhile trips. Try the trout restaurants as you arrive at Saklikent (we ate at the first one we came to and the food was excellent). Would I stay there again, most definitely.
