T
his place is spirited in a way quite uncommon in the Black Sea area. The owner, Özlem Erol, studied fashion design in London. She pursues her career in Istanbul while spending six months a year in her home region. She lovingly renovated the last wooden chalet in the centre of Çamlıhemşin. We wish she’d come 20 years earlier to work her magic on others before they disappeared. First she opened a café downstairs, then added six rooms upstairs. The fragrant smell of wood hits you as you enter, taking your shoes off. The back of the house overlooks forests and a stream that provides delightful background music. The rooms were kept simple, but they each have a bathroom. Black Sea food is renowned and this place is ambitious, as well as successful, on this front. If you are in the area, a stop here is a must!
