O
nce upon a time, the Greeks called the island “Moshinos”, which means fragrant island. The hotel, located in a narrow little street that could use some renovation, is quite hip. Seda Hanım and her husband, who run it, opted out of city life ago. Her uncle Ismail Bey runs the Kaikias Hotel in Bozcaada, also mentioned in these pages. Together, they have created something very original. The exterior is contemporary Turkish design, but special touches were bestowed on the rooms. The white decor is inspired from the classical lines of Greek temples. A few well-selected antique pieces of furniture provides the warmth to make them inviting. At the back of the hotel, there is a tiny little garden. Breakfast involves a rich selection of delicious Ayvalık cheeses.
