I
n the 1990s, when owner Rengin was looking for a family house in picturesque Kaleiçi, the rubber tree in the garden of a derelict building captured her imagination and she bought the property. Once renovated, the traditional house was simply too nice to be used only by family members. She turned it into a boutique hotel for distinguished guests, taking over the next door building. At the back, she added a garden with a pool and enough space for guests to enjoy their privacy. Inside, the hotel looks like the house of a well-loved family elder, with brass beds, family heirlooms and wooden beams. Eight of the eleven rooms, named after women dear to the owner, are located in the Pink House. The last three are part of the self-contained Gaia Suite in the Green House, ideal for large families or groups of friends.
