A
place for total escape. This is a basic, family-run pension at the edge of the sea in the archaic village of Kale/Kekova, sprinkled with sea salt and so completely enmeshed with Lycian antiquities that it is impossible to tell which bit of the masonry is two millennia old and which part was built last year. The absence of motor traffic works its magic: street and courtyard blend together, and the whole village sometimes gives the feeling of one large cosy living room.
The sea is as close as it gets: between your bedroom and your breakfast table there are boats bobbing in the sea. The family pier, which gets longer and wider by the year, houses the family restaurant where you can sit with a glass of beer and watch your dinner as it is plucked from the net. By day, the tour boats from Kaş and Demre cause some havoc; at night it is pure magic, with no more than a few dozen outsiders left in the village and the bay of Kekova turns into an exotic and closed world.

This is a magical place to stay. The views, archeological sites abounding, the sea in which you could float were astonishing. The family attention was terrific - everyone so very helpful. We loved eating our delicious food on the boardwalk - very romantic. However, we did find the rooms very basic and no room cleaning / bedmaking made us feel that it was a bit too pricey.
