t is a wild mountainside about 1 km above the harbour of Sivrice, the last undiscovered cove of the North Aegean coast. Here an Istanbul architect and his wife, a painter with a few years of bohemian Manhattan behind her, defied wind and snow to build their private place of escape. The architecture is unyieldingly modern ' all grey and angular, and sparsely (if tastefully) furnished. A mini-Stonehenge of basalt pillars adds dramatic effect to the garden. The softer touches ' dabs of colour here, a corner of comfortable cushions there ' betray the more feminine hand of Mrs Ersöz.
The cuisine is memorably good ' full of fresh local produce and the glories of olive oil. A private beach belonging to the hotel is located a 10-minute walk down the hill. It is a quiet and beautiful place with pebbly translucent sea, and no more than five or ten bathers present at any time.

2009 Temmuz ayında kaldıgımız Kaldera bizim için çok özel ve huzur arayan herkese tavsiye edebileceğimiz bir otel. Ev sahipleri ve çalışanlar bizleri kendimize çok özel hissettirdi. Hepsine ve özellikle 1 yaşındaki kızımla oyunlar oynayan Reyhan’a teşekkurler. Tekrar görüşmek üzere.
