K af Konak is a magnificent building located in the old quarter of Bartın, which was renovated by the heirs of a local family.

When we first visited Bartın years ago, we were surprised to find a historical heritage matching that of well-known Safranbolu, yet the town is largely undiscovered. Wooden houses, at least 200 years old, filled an entire neighbourhood. Some still had residents, others were deserted and in bad shape, waiting to be rescued. Kaf Konak was restored by two cousins, who pooled their resources and skills – one of them is an architect - to save this three-storey mansion, inherited from their grandmother. They decided, rightly, to run it as a boutique hotel. The renovation work took 4 years, but it was worth the wait. The rooms are beyond magnificent. The former master bedroom, furthermore, is vast.
