A datepe is among a handful of Aegean villages that have preserved their architectural fabric. Until the population exchange of 1923, it counted 400 households, before shrinking to 28. Thanks to tourism, livelier days have returned after a long silence. The owners initially bought one Greek house for themselves. They later purchased two adjacent buildings and turned the project into a hotel. It maintains the spirit of a home. From the stone and wood work to the choice of furniture, the renovation is masterful. Antiques, kilims and old postcards create a warm and inviting space. The food, cooked with fresh local ingredients like wild morrels, is excellent. It even includes homemade Italian icecream. A boat is available for guests to rent by the day.
