alfway between Istanbul and Ankara, Kartalkaya is a small but popular ski centre in the Bolu mountains. This boutique hotel is the most recent addition to the resort. Its striking modern exterior may not be to everyone’s taste, but the interior is airy and very pleasant. The style bears similarities with three other Golden Key establishments found in other parts of Turkey, but the mountain resort has imposed it own ambiance. A bold combination of black, red and beige was chosen for the decor, which also incorporates dozens of plastic deer. Few people are aware of it, but Kartalkaya is also attractive in the summer. The hotel is open throughout the year. A spa and a skating rink offer alternatives to skiing and hiking.
