T his new hotel on the upper slopes of Bozcaada commands a dominating view of the harbour, the fortress and the blue Aegean, yet it is only 3-5 minutes from the town centre. Once mainly populated by Greeks, Bozcaada has maintained a Greek atmosphere in spite of official attempts to make it more Turkish. Most venues have also defiantly kept their Greek names. After 30-40 years, the past has returned with a fresh approach. Old houses have been renovated, streets fixed and a market fit for an Aegean island has developed. As its name suggests, Ela Tenedos is an inviting establishment: "ela" means "come" in Greek. Its decor, mostly white, is elegant and attractive. Breakfast is served on the terrace where you can enjoy pancakes and omelettes, as well as the vista.
