ith its narrow streets, honey-coloured stone houses and colourful bougainvillea, old Datça has managed to preserve a unique Mediterranean atmosphere, perhaps because this picturesque village is not directly by the sea and has not suffered an invasion of tourists. Yet the local population has declined steadily, tempted away by more modern housing. The residents’ departure provided opportunities for outsiders, who gave the old houses a new lease of life. Most of the traditional structures are inward-facing, built around beautiful gardens full of pomegranate and fig trees. Dede Garden is one of the oldest guest houses in ancient Datça. It offers six friendly rooms and a 100 square-metre independent stone house set in large luxuriant grounds. The swimming pool, in a peaceful garden full of quirky corners, is shaded by palm trees.

My husband & I always thought that some day we would leave the fast paced life in Ny and retire somewhere in and around Datca--this idea had grown out of conversations with some friends..Past Nov.2008 we found ourselves in Datca driving a rented car just living the moment & absolutely in awe of our surroundings just soaking it all in and savoring it. It was purely kismet that we happen to ask directions for a place to stay to the owners of Dede Pansiyon It was a lovely, quaint,authentic studio with all the amenities..The owners Yagmur & Mehmet, quickly became the kind of friends that I would want to have in my life.We had a rejuvinating few days in Datca where Dede pansiyon & Mehmet & Yagmur will forever stay in our memory.
