M
ost visitors are immediately won over by Safranbolu and the much vaunted architectural beauty of its traditional houses. This particular mansion was built in the 19th century. It was successfully transformed into an 8-room hotel a few years ago by the family that has owned it for generations. Its name comes from the fountain (çeşme) located in its garden, which was once used by the women of the neighbourhood to do their weekly laundry. Traditional features such as in-built cupboards and shelves take care of most of the decoration in the rooms. Classic furniture completes the picture. A major attraction of this pleasant hotel is its location in the centre of town. The Cinci hamam is next door. The market a few steps away.
