A
dream castle built with naive exuberance. It stands on a wild hillside about 1 km above the harbour of Sivrice, perhaps the last undiscovered cove of the North Aegean coast. In the harbour you find a half dozen houses, two fishermen`s cafes, a few primitive motels, and miles of beautiful pebbly shore fringed by olive groves. The mountain rises to preposterous heights.
Çetin Dinçel, a retired army officer, offers friendly hospitality and memorably good cuisine to his guests. His rooms are charmingly set up in a quirky rustic style. There is a lonely beach 400metres down the way and the fish comes to table within hours of leaving the sea.
For seasoned travellers who cherish out-of-the-way experiences, this could well be the highlight of a tour of Turkey.
