T his unpretentious pension in a quiet village of Gökçeada is the right place if you want to rest and escape from the crowds.

The only sounds you’ll hear are hens clucking and sheep bleating. Because Gökçeada, also known as Imroz, was kept out of the exchange of population in 1923, its entire population was Greek. As a result of state policies, Dereköy village (formerly Shinudi) was abandoned in the 1970s. Five apartments and two bungalows are distributed across five acres of garden dominated by fruit trees, framed by a pine forest on one side and the mountain on the other. This establishment is a family affair and everybody lends a hand. Both the meat and the vegetables served at dinner are produced on site. If you want a swim, the sea is only 10 minutes away.
