T
hese Hunters do not not pursue wildlife: the name is merely the translation of their Turkish surname. Şevket Avci bought a small plot of land on this stretch of coastline near Assos 25 years ago, when it was still deserted. First, he set up a small camping ground, then a pension. Over the years, his warmth and ebullient hospitality earned him an international following. Now the next generation is in charge and they have moved up in the world with this country-style hotel. Nothing fancy: the rooms are spacious and comfortable, but simple. Children might enjoy the attic rooms. But there is greenery all around and the hotel is located right on the beach, facing the Greek island of Lesbos. The service and the food – especially the köfte with oregano – have won high praise.
