A
neat and decent bed and breakfast in the most unspoilt seafront village of the Marmaris peninsula.
Some four or five buildings around and the rest is an unbroken green. A tiny, private, fine pebble beach right in front. The sea is crystal clear. Visiting boats from a variety of countries are moored alongside the thin long quay.
The Aşkın family are Söğüt locals. Their adventure in tourism began three decades earlier with a small fish restaurant by the sea. Three or four rooms were added in time, and later two or three more inside the house and the enterprise transformed itself into a charming, fully-fledged small hotel. The host is Eray Aşkın, of the second generation. He's delightful and decent.
The fine, modern building is reminiscent of the architecture of the '50s. The rooms are surprisingly well appointed. Everything's recently been refurbished.
The garden is incredible: A shady tropical forest.
Restaurant to the side: Fresh fish, rakı and the finest, crispest fried calamari in all of the Aegean, facing the sea.
